Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness

Statement of purpose

The Office of Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness advances the mission and goals of Baruch College and the City University of New York (CUNY) through partnerships that engage our community in collaborative learning and data-informed decision making. We are committed to ethics and integrity, as well advancing the work of diversity, equity and inclusion.

We partner with the senior leadership team of the College, as well as all faculty, administrators, staff, and students to support teaching, learning and collaboration, and facilitate academic, administrative, and operational effectiveness, attainment of institutional and unit goals. We work collaboratively to ensure ongoing accreditation through college compliance with Middle States Commission on Higher Education standards and requirements of affiliation.

Scope of work

We support Baruch College through our partnerships on Presidential initiatives such as the Task Force for the Future and representation on the President’s Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as through collaborations on strategic and operational planning for the College, its schools and divisions. The Office provides leadership on and management of accreditation, assessment, and institutional effectiveness across the College.

For faculty and academic administrators, the Office provides consultation, collaboration, support, and training on assessment of student learning and development, assessment of teaching, and academic program development,  including compliance with academic policies and regulations of the New York State Education Department and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

For faculty, administrators and staff across the entire College, the Office also provides consultation, collaboration, support, and training on assessment of administrative and educational support units, assessment of student learning and development outside the classroom, strategic and operational planning,  institutional effectiveness, and resource allocation.

For students, the Office provides collaboration, consultation, and support on assessment of the student experience, and facilitating the inclusion of student voices in college initiatives.

The work of the office is framed by the Baruch College mission and strategic plan as well as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation.
