The 17th Symposium on Communication-Intensive Teaching and Learning
with Keynote Speaker and Panel Moderator
Friday, November 10, 9:30am-2:30pm, NVC 14-220
The Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute invites all Baruch faculty, full- and part-time, to join us for the 17th Symposium on Communication-Intensive Teaching and Learning.
At this year’s event, we focus on a communication skill we all practice, perhaps more than any other, but rarely teach and often take for granted: active listening. At a time when active listening—that is, listening with empathy and receptiveness, in order to truly understand and engage—is all the more critical for public and academic life, we’ll explore the strategies and habits of mind of the most insightful listeners, and as always, think together about how to bring those strategies into Baruch classrooms.
Keynote speaker Leonard Lopate, of WNYC’s The Leonard Lopate Show, will ground us in a consideration of active listening, and will also moderate a panel composed of practitioners of active listening from a variety of professional disciplines.
We hope to see you there!
Please register by October 20th by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
