We are writing to notify you of a CUNY Blackboard maintenance upgrade that is scheduled for late December. In keeping with CUNY’s established practice in the prior years of performing major system updates during the week between Christmas and New Year’s, the upgrade of CUNY’s live production Blackboard environment is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 27, 2015 and is expected to be completed by the end of business on Monday, December 28, 2015. Unfortunately, the system will be down and unavailable during this time.
Testing for the upgrade was completed in October and no technical issues were identified. This upgrade will not introduce new features or functionality into Blackboard. However, with this upgrade, CUNY will be discontinuing the Blackboard Virtual Chat tool. Interactive, synchronous chat will continue to be available within Blackboard Collaborate.
We encourage faculty to submit fall semester grades as early as possible and account for the scheduled downtime. As per the Registrar, the due date for the submission of fall 2015 grades is Wednesday, December 30, 2015 (11:59pm).
