Baruch College works daily to anticipate and assist students who may be in distress or those experiencing challenging or difficult life circumstances. Among the tools the College employs is the use of a team to follow-up on reports of unusual or disturbing student behavior. As a faculty or staff member you are the first, in many situations, to witness and question such student behavior.
The Campus Intervention Team (CIT) acts as a support network for students in crisis. Moreover, CIT serves as the coordinated point of contact to address concerns about students and provide consultation and intervention when students exhibit aggressive, concerning, or disruptive behaviors. Communicating your concern to CIT will alert the team to a student in need so that CIT can reach out to that student and offer the appropriate support service – whether it is counseling, health services, academic advising, student disability services, or some other resource need. The team can also assist faculty and staff members by meeting with students to address personal and/or medical issues that students may be reluctant to discuss openly.
Thank you for your willingness to provide this essential support for our students!
