From:  Dave Christy, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Baruch College Faculty,

During the spring of 2015 the majority of our full-time faculty chose to participate in a “job satisfaction” survey conducted by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. The program, called COACHE, has been conducted for many years, and is designed to inform campuses about the worklife issues from the perspective of the faculty, so that we can work together to make improvements.

At Baruch, the Faculty Senate has formed a committee of data analysis oriented faculty who are digging more deeply into this data with the assistance of John Choonoo, Director of Institutional Research. Their work will require some time, and therefore we have decided to post the data you provided us in the form that COACHE gave us. There is also a CUNY developed analysis that sorts senior colleges from community colleges. Our goal is to learn from these data and to set priorities for the future. The COACHE reports and the CUNY analysis are available on the Provost’s website at

http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/provost/resources.htm

We are also conducting a brief survey of all faculty (full time and adjunct) regarding the climate on our campus with respect to diversity, inclusion, participation in shared governance and decision making, and sexual violence and intimidation. It takes ten minutes to complete, and we will also post the results of that survey for you to study when it’s complete. I encourage you to complete the climate survey. It’s an effective way to hear every voice that is willing to speak.

Sincerely,

Dave Christy, PhD
