From:  Prof. Elizabeth Minei, Communication Studies

Hello Baruch Faculty, Staff, and Community Members:

Please let your students know of the following program, Conversation Partners Program (CPP), either in class, on Blackboard, or both.

The Conversation Partners Program (CPP) matches native and nonnative speakers of English for informal conversations. The partnerships are a great way for nonnative students to gain confidence in English, for native speakers to gain experience in communicating across language barriers, and for both native and nonnative speakers to expand their cultural knowledge, make friends, and build a network of professional contacts. To participate, students should be willing to commit to meeting their partner about one hour per week for a minimum of six conversations. We also feature fun events throughout the semester, like trivia night, tea time, game night, professional development, and a closing ceremony for community building.

Please let your students know the following dates:

Early Application: September 1, 2017

Final Application Deadline: September 8, 2017

Orientation Option 1: August 31, 2017 (NVC 3-165, 12:45)

Orientation Option 2: September, 6, 2017 (Multipurpose Room, 5:30)

Orientation Option 3: September 14, 2017 (NVC 3-165, 12:45)

For more information and to sign up, see   <

The deadline for signing up is Friday, September 8, 2017.

Note: CPP often has more nonnative than native students signing up so please encourage both nonnative and native speakers to participate.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me via email: Thank you!
