Dear Colleagues,

Each year CUNY organizes a conference for faculty and administrators to discuss issues related to teaching, usually with an emphasis on general education. The CUE program (Coordinated Undergraduate Education) has provided significant—indeed critical—funding over the years for such activities/units at Baruch as the Writing Center, the summer “Immersion” program, events for new students (several, including convocation), learning communities, and many others.

The keynote speaker this year will be José Antonio Bowen, author of Teaching Naked (Jossey-Bass, 2012).

"This is an important book. Everyone who is concerned about the future of higher education should read it. In a highly readable and lively style, Bowen makes the most intelligent argument I’ve encountered about how we should think about teaching and learning and emerging technologies. It is also a powerful guide to more effective teaching and deeper learning."  - Ken Bain, author of What the Best College Teachers Do

The theme of this year’s conference, elaborated below, is the assessment cycle. All members of the faculty and staff are invited to submit proposals (by March 21) and, of course, to attend on May 13.

Those nostalgic or curious are welcome to look back at the corresponding call for papers from eight years ago, when Baruch hosted the 4th annual CUE conference:
