Here’s what’s happening at the Center for Teaching and Learning in December:
CTL Initiative: OER Initiative Showcase
Tuesday, December 4 from 12:30 - 2:30 pm in NVC 14-266
Last year Baruch received a $221,275 grant to work with 21 faculty to change 40 courses to a “zero textbook cost” or OER (open educational resource) course. The CTL has received an additional $200,000 in this fiscal year to continue work on this project. At this informal gathering, select faculty who participated in the OER Initiative will be speaking about their processes as they planned and implemented their zero textbook cost courses. Come and get some insight into using OER/zero cost materials and get to know other faculty who are participating in the OER Initiative. While you are invited to stay for the entire showcase, you are welcome to stop by for part of it.
CTL Workshop: Qualitative Research Roundtable
Wednesday, December 5 from 12:30 - 2:30 pm in NVC 14-266
Join scholars from communication studies, linguistics, and environmental psychology for a roundtable discussion of qualitative research. Topics will include approaches to collecting and managing large amounts of data; experiences with digital and transcription tools; the stages of analysis; and your questions! Feel free to bring your own lunch!
CTL Office Hours: December
Drop in to our “CTL Office Hours” with your questions on teaching and learning. This is an informal time to bring your questions, concerns and ideas and meet with a member of the CTL.
