(and how journalists need to prepare for it)

David Cay Johnston won the Pulitzer Prize in 2000 for his reporting on taxes, and was a Pulitzer finalist in 2000 and 2003, while at The New York Times.  He is currently a columnist for The Daily BeastUSA Today, and other publications. The most recent of his half-dozen books is The Making of Donald Trump, the culmination of more than 30 years of reporting on Trump. He is a past president of Investigative Reporters and Editors.

Caroline Ryan led politics coverage during the 2016 presidential campaign as politics editor at The New York Times. She now serves as Assistant Editor in charge of recruiting.  Previously at The Times she was Washington bureau chief, politics editor, and Metro editor. She helped oversee the Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the fall of Eliot Spitzer, then the governor of New York.

Betty Wong, former Global Managing Editor at Reuters, is a longtime business journalist. After working as a reporter at The Wall Street Journal, Wong joined Reuters, where she held many senior positions, including equities editor for North and South America, U.S. corporate news editor, and senior Wall Street correspondent. Wong has been a juror for the Pulitzer Prizes, the Gerald Loeb awards, and the Best in Business prizes of the Society of American Business Editors.

Gregg Birnbaum (moderator), Senior Political Editor at NBCNews Online, is responsible for the site's national political coverage. He was previously Senior Editor, CNN Politics digital team; Managing Editor/Head of Political Content, the New York Daily News; Deputy Managing Editor, Politico; and Political Editor, The New York Post. Birnbaum has been in journalism for more than 30 years as a reporter and editor.
