From: Susan S. Ko, Academic Faculty Development Director, CUNY School of Professional Studies
Hi, just to let all of you know that we at SPS are accepting applications to register for new sessions of our two-week, asynchronous, online workshop, Preparation for Teaching Online: A Foundational Workshop for CUNY Faculty at
http://cunyonline.commons.gc.cuny.edu/.
We have scheduled two potential fall sessions, October 15-28th and November 5-18th, both with priority for those who will be teaching online or hybrid courses in Spring 2013. (We will run a final session in January 7-20 for those teaching Spring 2013, but that is not yet open for registration. ) Participants should be familiar with the basics of Blackboard 9.1 before taking this workshop. Faculty who want to participate in this workshop must have the approval of their academic administrators.
CTLs may find that this workshop fits well into the context of your own professional development sequence for hybrid and online teaching preparation. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss how your faculty’s participation in this workshop might be timed to best enhance your own offerings.

Note from the Baruch provost’s office:
Members of the faculty may register for one of these workshops with the permission of their chair and the provost. Permission will be based in part on a plan to teach at least six credits of online/hybrid courses within the two semesters that follow the workshop. New reimbursement procedures at the CUNY Central CUNY Office mean that the instructor will receive a payment for ten hours at the non-teaching adjunct rate (with a maximum payment of $550) once those courses have been taught.
