This email is being sent to all members of the Baruch College faculty.

Members of the Baruch faculty are encouraged to initiate discussions in their classrooms during Ethics Week of ethical issues related to their subjects or disciplines. Ethics Week 2012 will run Monday, March 26 – Saturday, March 31 and will include several public events featuring members of the Baruch community and invited guests. These will be announced soon. Meanwhile, as a prologue to Ethics Week 2012, we are pleased to announce the following:

 Research Ethics Forum

Thursday, March 15, 12:15 – 1:45pm, NVC 14-267

As a profession, academe must uphold ethical standards, including research standards if the development and dissemination of knowledge are to thrive. Recent instances of egregiously unethical research practices have harmed the credibility of the academic research enterprise, and ample incentives and opportunities for fraud and other deception suggest a need for continuing awareness and vigilance. The participants in this forum will discuss conflicts of interest, plagiarism, treatment of human participants, data control, post hoc hypotheses, journal practices, and other issues.

Professor Helaine Korn (Department of Management)

Professor Emeritus Joel Lefkowitz (Department of Psychology)

Professor Hannah Rothstein (Department of Management)

Professor Donald Vredenburgh (Department of Management)

A light lunch will be served.

RSVP to Linda Moore if you plan to attend:
