From: Professor Steven V. Melnik, Accountancy
It is with a heavy heart that I announce the recent passing of Samuel A. Dyckman, a tax icon and a Baruch College institution. Sam was 92 years old at the time of his passing. He had only recently stopped working at the New York office of WithumSmith+Brown and lecturing on a regular basis.
Sam graduated from what was then the City College of New York in 1941 with a degree in accounting. He taught at Baruch College for over 30 years. During that time, he received the College’s Presidential Excellence Award in Teaching.
Upon his retirement in 1992, he was named Professor Emeritus. Sam continued to lecture to practicing tax professionals on the ever-changing U.S. tax laws. Strongly committed to his alma mater, he was a frequent guest at College events. The College and tax profession will be forever in Sam’s debt.
Sam is survived by his wife, Florence; children, Donna Lefkowitz and Richard Dyckman; and five grandchildren.
