Faculty Colleagues: Please announce to your students and/or post to your Blackboard site.
Calling all video producers and those with an interest in financial awareness/financial literacy!
The New York Federal Reserve has approached Baruch College’s graduate and undergraduate students to invite student teams to compete in a unique contest, which is being sponsored by the New York Federal Reserve. The Federal Reserve is trying to enhance financial awareness among young people. In the last two years it has held a video competition in which teams compete to produce the best video dealing with financial literacy. Baruch has been offered a spot to compete in the 2011 competition. To see some results of the prior competitions, as well as videos, please see the following links:

- To view an interesting TV piece from NY1 about the NY Fed and the NYC 2010 winning video: http://www.ny1.com/content/134144/psa-by-local-college-students-teaches-credit-card-responsibility.
Prizes available for this competition are substantial. Last year, the three top video entries had their videos shown in local New York theaters, and some were offered internships with the Tribeca Film Festival. This year, there is consideration being given to having internships available for winning students with the New York Federal Reserve, as well as having the winning videos being placed on the websites of the New York Federal Reserve and selective non-profit agencies.
The Dean's office of the Zicklin School of Business in collaboration with the Department of Communication Studies of the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences will hold a brief organizational meeting to discuss the details of the contest on Thursday, October 6, at 1:45PM in room 14 -240 in the Newman Vertical Campus. Representatives of the New York Federal Reserve will be available to discuss the contest.
We hope that everyone who has an interest in video and in financial literacy will attend this brief organizational meeting.
