Dear Colleagues,

 The Alexander String Quartet, Baruch’s ensemble-in-residence since 1986, is an internationally renowned quartet, widely admired for its interpretations of the quartet literature. Hearing the ASQ play in Baruch’s Engelman Hall ("ideally intimate... perfect hall for chamber music” NYT, April 2006) represents an extraordinary, free opportunity to Baruch students and members of the faculty. With their concerts next week, the ASQ brings us all six of the string quartets of the Hungarian composer Béla Bartók (1881-1945).

NB: As part of Baruch's Silberman Concert Series, the ASQ also will perform in Engelman Hall on Thursday, April 26 at 2:45pm (music by Johannes Brahms). This concert is free and open to the public, but tickets are necessary. They can be reserved by calling (646) 312-4085 or in person at the box office.
