Schedule of classes

Please make note of the following features of the schedule of classes this fall. (They appear along with others on the college’s academic calendar at http://www.baruch.cuny.edu/registrar/due_dates.htm):

 

  • August 27 (Monday): First day of the fall 2012 semester
  • September 3 (Monday): Labor Day—the college is closed; no classes are scheduled
  • September 17-18 (Monday-Tuesday): Rosh Hashanah—no classes are scheduled
  • September 25-26 (Tuesday-Wednesday): Yom Kippur—no classes are scheduled
  • October 8 (Monday): Columbus Day—the college is closed; no classes are scheduled
  • October 10 (Wednesday): Classes follow a Monday schedule
  • November 9 (Friday): Last day for students to drop classes with the grade of “W”
  • November 22-25 (Thursday-Sunday): Thanksgiving—the college is closed; no classes are scheduled
  • December 12 (Wednesday): Last day of fall 2012 classes

 

 

Other religious holidays

In addition, some students will observe some of the religious holidays below—those listed by the City of New York at http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/scrintro.shtml#2012. Please take these into consideration in scheduling exams and assignments. Students are responsible for making up any missed work; please permit those who observe the holiday an opportunity to make up any missed assignments or exams.

 

  • October 1-2 (Monday-Tuesday): Succoth (Jewish holiday)*
  • October 9 (Tuesday): Simchas Torah (Jewish holiday)*
  • October 26-28 (Friday-Sunday): Idul-Adha (Muslim holiday)
  • November 1 (Thursday): All Saints Day (Catholic holiday)
  • November 13 (Tuesday): Diwali (Hindu holiday)
  • December 8 (Saturday): Immaculate Conception (Catholic holiday)

 

* Jewish holidays begin the night before and end at sundown on the last date noted.
