Schedule of classes

Please make note of the following features of the schedule of classes this fall. (They appear along with others on the college’s academic calendar at


  • August 27 (Monday): First day of the fall 2012 semester
  • September 3 (Monday): Labor Day—the college is closed; no classes are scheduled
  • September 17-18 (Monday-Tuesday): Rosh Hashanah—no classes are scheduled
  • September 25-26 (Tuesday-Wednesday): Yom Kippur—no classes are scheduled
  • October 8 (Monday): Columbus Day—the college is closed; no classes are scheduled
  • October 10 (Wednesday): Classes follow a Monday schedule
  • November 9 (Friday): Last day for students to drop classes with the grade of “W”
  • November 22-25 (Thursday-Sunday): Thanksgiving—the college is closed; no classes are scheduled
  • December 12 (Wednesday): Last day of fall 2012 classes



Other religious holidays

In addition, some students will observe some of the religious holidays below—those listed by the City of New York at Please take these into consideration in scheduling exams and assignments. Students are responsible for making up any missed work; please permit those who observe the holiday an opportunity to make up any missed assignments or exams.

  • October 26-28 (Friday-Sunday): Idul-Adha (Muslim holiday)
  • November 1 (Thursday): All Saints Day (Catholic holiday)
  • November 13 (Tuesday): Diwali (Hindu holiday)
  • December 8 (Saturday): Immaculate Conception (Catholic holiday)
