Welcome back! Please make note of the following features of the schedule of classes this fall.

August	27	Wednesday	Last day to drop for 100% tuition refund
	28	Thursday	Classes Begin Late registration begins.
September	1	Monday	Labor Day - College is closed
	3	Wednesday	Last day for 75% tuition refund Late registration ends. Last day to add a course.
	10	Wednesday	Last day for 50% tuition refund
	17	Wednesday	Last day for 25% tuition refund Last day to drop without the grade of "W"
	18	Thursday	Course Withdrawal period begins (A grade of "W" is assigned to students who officially drop a class)
	23	Tuesday	Classes follow a Friday schedule
	24-26	Wednesday-Friday	No classes scheduled (Rosh Hashanah)
	29	Monday	Last day to register for Undergraduate Internship and Independent study courses.
October	3-4	Friday-Saturday	No classes scheduled (Yom Kippur)
	12	Sunday	No classes scheduled
	13	Monday	College closed - no classes (Columbus Day)
	28	Tuesday	Last day to register for Graduate Internship and Independent study courses.
November	6	Thursday	Last day to drop with the grade of "W"
	27-30	Thursday-Sunday	College is closed - no classes (Thanksgiving)
December	15	Monday	Last day of classes for Fall 2014
	16	Tuesday	Reading Day
	17-23	Wednesday-Tuesday	Final Examinations
	23	Tuesday	End of Term
	24-25	Wednesday-Thursday	College is closed (Christmas)
	31	Wednesday	College is closed (New Year’s)
January	1	Thursday	College is closed (New Year’s)

 

 

Other religious holidays

Some students will observe some of the religious holidays listed below. (I have recorded those listed by the City of New York at http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/motorist/alternate-side-parking.shtml leaving out the ones accounted for by the schedule above.) Please take these holidays into consideration in scheduling exams and assignments and permit those who observe the holiday an opportunity to make up any missed assignments or exams. Students are responsible for making up any missed work.

 

October 4-6 (Saturday-Monday):  Idul-Adha (Muslim holiday)

October 9-10 (Thursday-Friday):  Succoth (Jewish holiday) *

October 16 (Thursday):  Shemini Atzereth (Jewish holiday) *

October 17 (Friday):  Simchas Torah (Jewish holiday) *

October 23 (Thursday):  Diwali (Hindu holiday)

December 8 (Thursday):  Immaculate Conception (Catholic holiday)

 

* Jewish holidays begin the night before and end at sundown on the last date noted.
