CUNY’s Office of Research would like your opinion on whether a conference in collaboration with a regulatory agency and industry partner(s) would be beneficial and of interest to CUNY’s research community. Issues would include:

• privacy – what constitutes privacy in the age of social media and have privacy expectations evolved;
• research ethics – has the definition of a human subject evolved and is there a different way to interpret the principles of the Belmont Report;
• do regulations, as currently written and interpreted apply to big data research, and what about oversight of such research conducted in non-federally regulated environments; and
• informed consent - its feasibility and new ways of thinking about it.
