From:  Allison Lehr Samuels, Director, Baruch Center for Teaching and Learning

Dear Members of the Baruch Faculty and Staff,

If you are using Blogs@Baruch this semester you have likely noticed frequent connectivity issues over the last two weeks. We know that faculty members and staff who use Blogs@Baruch put an extraordinary amount of time and effort into managing their sites and course blogs, and we deeply apologize for the disruption.

We are ecstatic that Blogs@Baruch has grown as a platform for course content and other projects, but unfortunately the start of this semester has revealed that our growth has reached a point where mass usage overloads our system at peak times. The stress on the system is especially high at the beginning of the semester as many new sites and users are created.

We are working diligently to address the downtime issues and to develop a sustainable solution that addresses the needs of more users on a much larger platform. Based on previous semesters, we anticipate that the situation will improve as the load on the system lessens after the initial rush at the beginning of the semester and as we implement system changes.

Should there be further interruptions, we are available to work with you and provide suggestions to minimize the impact, whether it’s a workaround or assistance with transferring your content to another platform. Please reach out to us at blogs@baruch.cuny.edu for help.

Thank you again for your patience and support.
