Dear Baruch Faculty,

April 26 is National Bring Our Daughters & Sons to Work Day. This is a longstanding tradition at many progressive corporations, nonprofits and universities, and the event is celebrating its 25th anniversary nation-wide this year. The event enables parents and employers to simultaneously showcase the careers of parents and their colleagues and to hopefully inspire the next generation into careers that they may not have known of or previously understood. In the case of Baruch College, we are hoping to illustrate what you as faculty do and how essential your role is on this campus and in colleges and universities around the world for the next generation.

It is also a truly an excellent opportunity to bring a bit of fun back into the workplace while recognizing we all balance work and home life on a daily basis. We are looking for partnership and support college-wide as we embark on introducing this new tradition on our campus. We are hoping for members of our faculty to volunteer to do demo classes for the various different age groups if you feel your field would be of interestAs faculty, you possess the years of experience in crafting your knowledge in a manner that students not only understand but find inspirational. It is this expertise that we feel will be essential to the success of the day. We are hoping that many of you would be willing to do that for the sons and daughters that will be joining us in April.

The College’s Employee Engagement committee will be arranging several activities throughout the morning and early afternoon for the campus community. We will focus on three age groups: up to 6, 7 – 12 and 13 + with an understanding of their different interests and the needs of their parents. In order for this to be a successful day, we need to have both your support as well as a substantial group of volunteers hosting some of our activities.

Please contact Ann Clarkson at ann.clarkson@baruch.cuny.edu or Natalie Velasquez at natalie.velasquez@baruch.cuny.edu .

Thank you for your support.  We look forward to your feedback.
