From: Prof. Roseanne McManus, Political Science
The Baruch Political Science Department is hosting a panel on Nationalism v. Globalism in US and European Politics, to be held at 6:00-7:30pm on Monday, March 26 in room 14-270 of the Vertical Campus building. All Baruch faculty, staff, and students are invited, and should RSVP at https://nationalism_globalism.eventbrite.com.
The panelists will include:
- Stanley Feldman, Professor of Political Science at Stony Brook University
- Van Tran, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Columbia University
- Sheri Berman, Professor of Political Science at Barnard College
- Mitchell Cohen, Professor of Political Science at Baruch College
President Trump’s “America First” agenda, the British exit from the EU, and the increasing popularity of far-right movements in Europe all reflect a growing nationalist backlash against globalization. What political, sociological, and economic factors are driving this? And will nationalism or globalism dominate in the future? Our panelists will discuss these and other questions and will also take audience questions at the end.
Light refreshments will be served.
