From: Dave Christy, Provost
Dear Baruch Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that Zolicia Abotsi has agreed to serve as the Interim Director of Sponsored Programs and Research (SPAR) at Baruch College. Please join me in welcoming her to her new role.
Ms. Abotsi has served the Baruch Community for the past thirteen years. Most recently, Ms. Abotsi’s efforts as Associate Director of Post-Award Support have resulted in greater faculty familiarity with the CUNY Research Foundation’s procedures and electronic systems. This has facilitated productivity and efficiency in the use of sponsored research funds. Ms. Abotsi is a Certified Research Administrator (CRA), and she holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Zicklin School of Business as well as a Bachelor’s degree from City College.
I would like to acknowledge and thank Dominic Esposito for his leadership in the SPAR Director position over the past nearly three years. Dominic established strong relationships with the Baruch community through his regular communications. The Funding Focus newsletter highlighted relevant funding opportunities and showcased faculty accomplishments. SPAR workshops, featuring internal and external speakers, alongside monthly office hours, gave potential and current Principal Investigators a direct connection with SPAR. These outreach and education efforts resulted in increased Internal and external funding applications during Dominic’s tenure.
Baruch’s search for a permanent Director of Sponsored Programs and Research is underway. The search committee is chaired by HRPP Coordinator Keisha Peterson; also serving on the search committee are Professors Desmond Arias (Marxe), Trevor Moores (Zicklin), and Kristin Sommer (Weissman), and Erika Stauffer (Office of Academic Administration). I am most grateful for their service, and look forward to a successful conclusion to the search in due time.
