Wednesday, September 7, 3–5 PM FUTURES INITIATIVE, CUNY GRADUATE CENTER “The New College Classroom” In this interactive session, Professor Cathy N. Davidson, Senior Advisor on Transformation to the Chancellor of CUNY, and Dr. Christina Katopodis, innovators in higher education and authors of The New College Classroom (Harvard University Press, 2022), present the latest research on inspiring, effective, and inclusive learning. This hybrid event will take place on Zoom and in the Skylight Room at the CUNY Graduate Center with opening remarks from Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez and Graduate Center Provost and Senior Vice President Steve Everett. Tuesday, September 13, 11 AM–12 NOON ZICKLIN TALKS BUSINESS – WEBINAR SERIES “The Dark Side of Social Media” Larry Zicklin, Professor Isaac Vaghefi, and Professor Niam Naraghi address such questions as: What is it about social media platforms, such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, that we spend so much time on them? Are they addictive? What are the harms of social media to our society? What can (or should) be done about them? This discussion will take place on Zoom. More information and RSVP here.
Wednesday, September 28, 12:30–2 PM ROBERT ZICKLIN CENTER FOR CORPORATE INTEGRITY “Accountability in Accounting: The Lasting Impact of Baruch Alumnus and Longtime Professor Abe Briloff” The center welcomes Abe Briloff’s former student and friend Charlie Dreifus, CFA Portfolio Manager, Managing Director at Royce Investment Partners, for a discussion with Professor Donal Byard, Chair of the Stan Ross Department of Accountancy, on how Abe fought to guarantee higher standards of transparency and ethical conduct in the financial and accounting industries.
