CURB Open House for Faculty and Staff
June 26, 2020
Dear Colleague –
All members of the faculty and staff are invited to join us for an Open House about CURB – The Coalition to Undo Racism at Baruch – on Thursday, July 2nd from 12:30-1:30pm. We are staff and faculty who have participated in the Undoing Racism Workshop developed by the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond (www.pisab.org). Approximately 60 Baruch faculty and staff have participated in the workshop so far, and a subset of these are active in CURB and meet monthly to ‘check in’ and to plan strategies and events. At the Open House, we will be discussing our experience of the Undoing Racism Workshop and its effect, our work as CURB to date, as well as our plans for upcoming events and strategizing.
The Undoing Racism workshop focuses on developing an analysis of the various forces that perpetuate institutional racism. As opposed to personal racial animus, individuals may help perpetuate institutional racism even when they have no malicious intent. If you are interested, please RSVP and if you cannot attend but wish to be on our emailing list for future events, please fill out the RSVP.
