This event on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 6-7:30pm is a discussion about “urban citizenship” and efforts under way in San Francisco and New York City to expand democracy to immigrants in these cities. Among other things, we’ll talk about a ballot measure campaign (Prop C) under way in San Francisco to allow noncitizens to serve on city boards and commissions, a policy proposal before the NYC City Council to expand local voting rights to noncitizens, and immigrants’ participation in participatory budgeting in NYC.
