Welcome John Osae-Kwapong, PhD, Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness
February 16, 2022
Dear Baruch Faculty and Staff,
I am very happy to announce the appointment of John Osae-Kwapong, PhD, as Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness. Dr. Osae-Kwapong will join us on Monday, Feb. 28, from Nassau Community College where he serves as Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness.
In the newly configured position of Associate Provost for Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness, Dr. Osae-Kwapong will bear primary responsibility for leading, managing, designing, developing, and implementing strategies to evaluate our progress toward meeting our Six College-Focused Goals, as well as our requirements for accreditation. Reporting to me, he will work directly with deans, directors, and members of the faculty on these strategies. He will also be responsible for assessment of both institutional effectiveness and student learning, collaborating with faculty and staff across the College, including members of the divisions of academic affairs, enrollment management, student affairs, administration and finance, college advancement, and communications and marketing.
Our newest Associate Provost will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team in work focused on the production and use of analytics, providing meaningful assessment and planning, and enabling data-informed decision-making that advances Baruch’s strategic goals. Upon his appointment, the Office of Institutional Research will report to Associate Provost Osae-Kwapong to support the important work of assessment and institutional effectiveness.
Dr. Osae-Kwapong will lead and manage the preparation of the College’s accreditation reports, working with the deans’ and vice presidents’ offices on accreditation efforts relevant to the individual schools, departments, and administrative units. He will provide and manage assessment support for assessment in all academic programs, as well as for the development and assessment of new degree and certificate program proposals. Additionally, he will oversee and manage the development, implementation, and use of effective assessment methods in non-academic programs across the College. As Baruch’s accreditation officer, Dr. Osae-Kwapong will play a leading role in the development and advancement of future fully online programs and degrees. In this mission-critical area, he will collaborate with the inaugural Director of the Digital Learning Hub, a position that was outlined in my Feb. 2 announcement.
Dr. Osae-Kwapong joins us with 15 years’ higher education experience in planning and institutional effectiveness, from Nassau Community College, Columbia University, University of Findlay (OH), and Gallaudet University in Washington DC. He has taught at Houghton College, University of Maryland College Park, University of Findlay, and George Mason University.
Please join me in welcoming the newest member of our Baruch College leadership team, Dr. John Osae-Kwapong!
Best wishes,
Linda Essig
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
