Assessment, Accreditation & Institutional Effectiveness

Statement of purpose

The Office of Assessment, Accreditation, and Institutional Effectiveness advances the mission and goals of Baruch College and the City University of New York (CUNY) through partnerships that engage our community in collaborative learning and data-informed decision making. We are committed to ethics and integrity, as well advancing the work of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Scope of work

We support Baruch College through our partnerships on Presidential initiatives such as the Task Force for the Future and representation on the President’s Council on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, as well as through collaborations on strategic and operational planning for the College, its schools, and divisions. The Office provides leadership on and management of accreditation, assessment, and institutional research with the goal of ensuring institutional effectiveness across the Baruch Community.

Through institutional research, the Office anticipates the data needs of the College and provides standard reports including dashboards to meet those needs. We respond to external reporting mandates from the federal government, New York State department of education, Middle states commission for higher education, and program specific accreditors.

Through assessment, the Office provides consultation, collaboration, support, and training on assessment of student learning and development, assessment of teaching, and academic program development, including compliance with academic policies and regulations of the New York State Education Department and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

The work of the office is framed by the Baruch College mission and strategic plan as well as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation.
