Job Satisfaction

At commencement, we get to see the product of our efforts — the glowing faces of graduates, proud parents, and loved ones who are celebrating a moment of great accomplishment. It is our accomplishment as well: because we played a role in getting our students to this point, we can all share in this great moment.

Details: the Knicks, the Rangers etc.

All members of the faculty are invited to participate in the academic procession at Baruch College’s Forty-first Commencement Exercises. Once again, this year we have requested the MSG Arena to hold one combined commencement ceremony for both undergraduates and graduates. If all goes as planned, the combined ceremony will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 31. However, our use of the Arena depends upon whether the New York Knicks [webmaster’s note: that’s a bit of a stretch] or the New York Rangers are in their respective playoffs and whether there is any major concert event scheduled. That will not be determined until sometime later this spring. As a fall back, we are planning two commencement ceremonies in the Madison Square Garden Theater, with undergraduates and graduates at both ceremonies. If the fall-back scenario comes to pass, the morning ceremony will begin at 11:00 am and the afternoon ceremony will begin at 3:30 pm.

Food and Regalia

Commencement is fun. You will be provided with a light breakfast. Whether we have one ceremony or two (or you attend just one of the possible two), you will receive a great lunch with wine and soft drinks. Academic regalia is free to members of the faculty and staff.

Graduation Marshals and Other Volunteers

Each year we invite interested faculty and staff to participate as graduation marshals at the commencement exercises. These ceremonies involve over thirteen thousand degree candidates, faculty, staff and guests. Volunteers are needed to help with audience and graduate seating, crowd control, and the robing of faculty and students. You can volunteer your assistance for one or, if needed, both ceremonies.

To confirm etc., log on

To confirm your attendance at commencement, to volunteer to serve as a marshal and/or to order your academic regalia, please log on to the following website prior to March 31: www.baruch.cuny.edu/stulife

    • Click on the “Commencement Info-Fac/Staff” link on the right hand side of the page.

Information about academic regalia pick-up is available on the website as well.

We look forward to your participation in Baruch College’s forty-first commencement exercises!

Sincerely,

Carl E. Aylman

Director of Student Life
