Scheduled Events of
Ethics Week 2023 (March 13-18)
An annual event at Baruch College since 2004, Ethics Week evolved naturally from curricula in our three Schools that include emphases on ethical reasoning and/or decision-making. Generously supported by the Charles Dreifus Ethics-Across-the-Curriculum Initiative, the week typically features several components:
- classroom discussions led by instructors on issues related to their courses or disciplines;
- speakers invited to address classes;
- public workshops or presentations by invited guests; and
- announcement of the student and faculty winners of the annual Abraham J. Briloff Prizes in Ethics.
Classroom discussions follow their own schedule; following is the list of events featuring invited guests:

The winners of the 2022 Abraham Briloff Prizes for Ethics will be announced.
TUESDAY, MARCH 14

THE ZICKLIN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS presents “Facial Recognition Technology: For Good or for Evil?” Speakers Larry Zicklin (BBA, ’57) and Professor Yafit Lev-Aretz will discuss the ethical questions surrounding privacy and facial recognition technology. With an introduction by Interim Dean Paquita Davis-Friday and a Q&A session moderated by Associate Dean Gwen Webb. This is a virtual event. Register here.
THURSDAY, MARCH 16

THE ROBERT ZICKLIN CENTER FOR CORPORATE INTEGRITY presents “Chatting with the Future: Exploring the Legal and Ethical Challenges of ChatGPT and Generative AI.” Professors Yafit Lev-Aretz and Nizan Geslevich Packin will discuss the current state of ethics in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and the importance of responsible AI in today’s society. The Philosophy Club of Baruch College is sponsoring a panel discussion on the topic “Racial Injustice and Affirmative Action: What Is to Be done?” Speakers include Professors Douglas Lackey, Elizabeth Edenberg and Corey Beckford.
