Grid (Scheduling)

SCHEDULING GRID

Designations for sections of classes contain information on the days and times those sections meet. Instructions on how to interpret these designations follow, with information about the time grid, days offered, multiple sections of courses, and club hours.

Time Grid for Classes

These are the 75-minute blocks from which the schedule is built. For example, a class designated CMW will include the block C (which means that it will run from 11:10 a.m. to 12:25 p.m.) and will meet on MW (Monday and Wednesday — see below for more information on the code for days of the week).

Blocks for 3-credit courses that meet twice a week
A = 7:50am – 9:05am
B = 9:30am – 10:45am
C = 11:10am – 12:25pm
D = 12:50pm – 2:05pm
E = 2:30pm – 3:45pm
F = 4:10pm – 5:25pm
P = 5:50pm – 7:05pm
Q = 7:30pm – 8:45pm
R = 9:00pm – 10:15pm

Blocks for 3-credit courses that meet once a week
L = 7:50am – 10:45am
M = 11:10am – 2:05pm
N = 2:30pm – 5:25pm
U = 6:05pm – 9:00pm

Blocks for 4-credit courses that meet twice a week
G = 8:15am – 9:55am
H = 10:20am – 12:00pm
J = 12:25pm – 2:05pm
K = 2:55pm – 4:35pm
S = 5:40pm – 7:20pm
T = 7:45pm – 9:25pm

Blocks for 4-credit courses that meet once a week
O = 9:05am – 12:50pm
W = 1:15pm – 5:00pm
V = 6:05pm – 9:50pm

Days Offered

As part of the scheduling grid, each course is identified by a one or two digit alpha code to indicate the days of the week (e.g., CMW designates a class that meets on Mondays and Wednesdays).

M = Monday
T = Tuesday
W = Wednesday
R = Thursday
F = Friday
S = Saturday
U = Sunday

Multiple Sections of a Course

If there are to be multiple sections of a course at a given time, each section is identified by a letter code beginning with “A” (e.g., CMWA). “A” represents the first section offered at a given time; “B” indicates the second section offered at the same time; “C” the third, etc.

Club Hours: no classes on Thursdays, 12:25pm – 2:30pm

Club hours designates the period during which no classes may be scheduled. Club hours takes place on Thursday afternoons from 12:25pm to 2:30pm. Thus, no classes that begin before 12:25pm on Thursdays may be scheduled to end after 12:25pm, nor may any afternoon classes be scheduled to begin on Thursday before 2:30pm.
