The CUNY Policy on Research Misconduct, Policy Regarding the Disposition of Allegations of Misconduct in Research and Similar Educational Activities, defines Research Misconduct in section 8.15 as:

“Fabrication, Falsification, or Plagiarism in proposing, performing, or reviewing research, or in reporting research results.”

CUNY policy states that a finding of Research Misconduct requires the following conditions:

1. There is a significant departure from accepted practices of the relevant research community.

2. The misconduct is committed intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly, and 3. The allegation is proven by the preponderance of the evidence as used in the Public Health Service Policies on Research Misconduct;

Final Rule.

Under CUNY policy, Research Misconduct does not include honest error or differences of opinion.

Allegations of Research Misconduct should be reported to the College’s Research Integrity Officer (RIO) at: rio@baruch.cuny.edu
