Grade Appeals: A Short Process Guide
If students believe that the grade they have been given is the result of an error or is inconsistent with the grading policy outlined in the course syllabus, they have the option to appeal their grade. Note: the decision of the formal appeal committee is final.
How to appeal grades for undergraduate students:
- Speak or write to your instructor: Be prepared to present evidence in support of your belief that the grade you have been given is incorrect, including graded materials such as exams, papers, homework, etc.
- If the issue remains unresolved:
- If the course is in Weissman or Zicklin, contact the chair of the department;
- If the course is in the Marxe School, the student may file a Marxe Academic Appeals Form. For Marxe courses, this is the last level of appeal.
- If the issue remains unresolved after discussions with the instructor and department chair, you may file a formal appeal:
- For Weissman courses: You may file a formal appeal at WSAS.CASAppeals@baruch.cuny.edu;
- For Zicklin courses: You may file a formal appeal at Zicklin Undergraduate Committee on Academic Standing
