3rd annual Spring Forum on Tenure and Promotion

February 17, 2021

From: Myung-Soo Lee, Interim  Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dear Faculty:

I am pleased to extend a cordial invitation for you to attend the third annual Spring Forum on Tenure and Promotion. The Forum is scheduled for Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. Please save the date. We will hold this year’s Forum over Zoom – before the event you will receive an RSVP email that will contain login information.

Tenure and promotion are arguably the most critical milestones in an academician’s career, as well as among the most important decisions made by one’s peers and College administrators. In recognition of the significance of tenure and promotion, this forum is one way that we promote a College-wide dialogue on the subject.

This year’s panelists are:

  • Fenwick Huss, Dean of the Zicklin School of Business
  • Sanders Korenman, Professor in the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs and former member of the College Personnel & Budget Committee
  • Myung-Soo Lee, Interim Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
  • Joshua Mills, Chair of the Department of Journalism and the Writing Professions
  • Martina Nguyen, Associate Professor of History and recent successful Tenure & Promotion candidate

Once each participant has spoken briefly about their experience and/or role in the process, the Forum will be opened up for questions from the audience. You will hear directly from key players – and, importantly, from your peers.

The Forum is particularly informative for tenure-earning faculty (including Lecturers eligible for CCE). It is also an opportunity for tenured Associate and Full Professors to mentor junior colleagues and contribute insights from their own experiences. All professorial title faculty, regardless of rank, are encouraged to attend annually.

I am deeply committed to supporting the success, growth, and contributions of all faculty at Baruch College. I look forward to seeing you at the Spring Forum on Tenure and Promotion.

Sincerely,

Myung-Soo
