Dear Faculty,
This past weekend the Baruch Bearcats baseball and men’s tennis teams won the CUNYAC Championship. The baseball team will travel up to Northern Maine to play the winner of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) in a best-of-three series for a berth to the NCAA. The men’s tennis team will advance to the NCAA tournament and will find out their destination and opponent at noon today. As of now the games/matches are slated to begin on Friday with travel/practice day on Thursday.
The purpose of this email is to make you aware of the situation that some of your students may be facing. Each student athlete has been instructed to notify their professors of the situation and also present them a Missed Class Notification which will be signed by administration in Athletics. The student athletes are aware that the form is not an excused absence for all professors but more of a notification that they will not be in attendance on the designated days. There is also a space for the professor to write out any assignments the students are responsible for. The athletic department asks that you do sign off on the form on the designated line so that it is verified that the student athlete did indeed present you the form.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to reach out to me.
Thank you,
Carrie Thomas
