Dear Faculty Colleagues,
I’m following up the message below to encourage all to adhere to a lenient lateness policy for your classes this week. Although some students will walk up the stairs and others will be able to arrive early enough to gain access to one of the three small elevators, not everyone will be able to climb several flights (even assuming they take the escalators to the fifth floor) and in many cases students’ schedules, including previous classes, will not allow them to get to the elevator lines early enough to arrive in your classes by the prescribed start time. Difficulties with the elevators also might affect student arrivals at classes that follow in other buildings and, of course, they will have impact on the timing of faculty arrivals as well.
As VP Cobb indicates below, we appreciate your patience and understanding, and will try to keep you as up-to-date as pssible.
