Request a Research Workshop or Course Guide from the Library
The library is expanding its collection of online services and resources this fall by offering new opportunities for your students to learn how to conduct research.
Workshops: If you’d like a librarian to meet with your class online to provide a workshop on research strategies and information resources, please complete this form. Submit your request with details about the student assignment(s) as early as possible to allow us time to accommodate your requests.
Research Consultations: Students can learn how to focus a research topic; plan a research strategy; and identify relevant sources of information in a one-on-one research consultation with a librarian. Sessions can run from 30 to 60 minutes long and will be offered in Zoom. Students or student teams should schedule a meeting by completing this form. Faculty who want their class to make appointments should contact the library liaison to their department first.
Research Guides: Baruch librarians have created Research Guides to help students identify the best databases, journals and library resources for their assignments. Our Research Guides cover over 200 subjects and courses. If you would like a guide for a course or specific assignment, please contact the library liaison to your department. To get an idea of what the course guides look like, you can browse the list of published ones from this page.
Data Services: The Library’s Data Services Group can help you or your students work with qualitative and quantitative data. We provide:
- Consultation services around identifying, obtaining, processing, analyzing, and visualizing datasets for research
- Data services for producing value-added datasets and processing data
- Archival services in organizing, storing, describing, and providing access to datasets
- Instructional services in the form of tutorials and workshops
Please contact our Data Services Team to learn more.
Ask a Librarian Service: Librarians are answering your questions and providing reference services remotely during the fall 2020 semester. Use the “Ask a Librarian” app on the Library’s home page to email a question or chat live with a librarian 24/7.
