Classroom Culture, with Tamara Gubernat, CTL Digital Pedagogy Specialist
The first day of class is an introduction to the course content and sets the tone for the semester. How can we facilitate a welcoming and inclusive learning environment? How do we foster a sense of community within the class? What are some ways we can help students to feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions? The learning environment you create impacts how your students interact with each other and engage with the course material. This informal gathering of instructors is an opportunity to share and discuss various approaches and techniques to create classroom culture.. Come and join us at the Center for Teaching and Learning in an informal discussion of these and other teaching issues pertinent to the beginning of the new spring semester. The Billionaire’s Apprentice, speaker, Anita Raghaven
We are hosting writer Anita Raghavan, author of The Billionaire’s Apprentice: The Rise of the Indian-American Elite and the Fall of the Galleon Hedge Fund. You may recall that case, in which fund founder Raj Rajaratnam and others were convicted for their role in one of the biggest insider-trading schemes in American history. Ms. Raghavan will discuss the book and the many issues it raises regarding business ethics, white collar crime and the dynamics of a successful immigrant community in the US financial world.
