Syllabus statement regarding accommodations for students with disabilities
July 29, 2020
From: Patricia Clarke Fleming, Director, Student Disability Services
Dear Faculty Member,
As you prepare your course syllabus, we suggest you replace whatever statement you currently have regarding access to accommodations with something along the lines of the sample statement offered below. Our process/procedures were changed due to distance learning. The sooner students reach out to us with their questions or concerns, the easier it will be to ensure their access and to let you know if there are any considerations for you to keep in mind as you finalize your class material.
Baruch has a continuing commitment to providing reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Like so many things this fall, the need for accommodations and the process for arranging them have been altered by COVID-19 and the safety protocols currently in place. Students with disabilities who may need some accommodation in order to fully participate in this class should contact Student Disability Services as soon as possible at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you very much.
