Time to order textbooks for summer and fall 2021

February 23, 2021

From:  Linda M. Lemiesz, Adjunct Faculty Services, and Dennis Slavin, Associate Provost

Dear Colleagues,

As you might know, CUNY requires all faculty members to submit their textbook information to CUNYfirst. Now is the time to submit that information for those teaching in the summer or fall of 2021.

We know that textbook entry is a cumbersome process made worse by the design of the interfaces in CUNYfirst. But CUNY uses these data to comply with the 2008 Higher Education Act, which requires that students be given access to textbook information in advance of registration for their courses. Registration will begin on Monday, April 5.

Please remember that the purpose of the Higher Education Act is to protect the student consumer. Early submission of your information helps students to locate the best prices and improves access to the rental market for textbooks and to the market for second-hand books. Compliance with the law helps fulfill Baruch’s mission to improve access to higher education.

How to enter textbooks into the system:

This link provides information on how to upload textbook information into CUNYfirst:

https://bctc.baruch.cuny.edu/cunyfirst/faculty-staff/

When you finish entering your information, please shift the button in mid screen from “pending” to “complete.”

 The Baruch Bookstore
Our bookstore is willing to serve as a resource for textbook information. Please contact the textbook manager for assistance at tm8065@bncollege.com. Note that the Bookstore cannot submit information to CUNYfirst on your behalf.

Thanks for your help!

Dr. Linda M. Lemiesz
Adjunct Faculty Services

Dennis Slavin, PhD
Associate Provost
