Very Short Guides to Teaching, from the Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute
August 26, 2020
From: Meechal Hoffman, Director, Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute
As we begin the Fall semester, the Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute invites you to consult their Very Short Guides, brief overviews of core pedagogical practices or principles. As the name suggests, these 34 Guides are very short (one page each) and designed to be as practicably applicable as possible.
You might also want to look at our Faculty Seminar on Remote Communication-Intensive Teaching. We facilitated this Seminar in July for over 100 Baruch faculty, and due to popular demand, we shared all the asynchronous content (short videos and slides) on our website.
We hope new and experienced teachers alike will find plenty of ideas, tools, and tips in these resources. Throughout, we aim to balance effective, student-centered teaching with maintaining a manageable workload.
If you have any questions, or would like to discuss any aspect of communication-intensive teaching, please be in touch with the Institute’s Director, Dr. Meechal Hoffman: meechal.hoffman@baruch.cuny.edu
