Dear Faculty,
This past weekend the Baruch Bearcats baseball won the NAC Championship. The baseball team will travel up to UMass Boston to play for the first time in school history in the NCAA Championship Tournament beginning with Regional play. As of now the games/matches are slated to begin on Friday with travel/practice day on Thursday and by virtue of continued wins could last until Sunday.
The purpose of this email is to make you aware of the situation that some of your students may be facing. Each student athlete has been instructed to notify their professors of the situation and also present them a Missed Class Notification which will be signed by administration in Athletics. The student athletes are aware that the form is not an excused absence for all professors but more of a notification that they will not be in attendance on the designated days. There is also a space for the professor to write out any final exams the student-athletes are responsible for. The athletic department asks you do sign off on the form on the designated line so that it is verified that the student athlete did indeed present you the form.
We ask that when possible every effort is made to work with the student-athlete to ensure they can reach academic success in this very exciting time for them, the athletic department and college.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to reach out to me.
Thank you,
Carrie Thomas
