Zolicia Abotsi Appointed New Director of Sponsored Programs and Research
November 11, 2019
Dear Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to announce that Zolicia Abotsi (MBA ’09) has been appointed permanent director of Baruch College’s Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (SPAR). Ms. Abotsi has served as SPAR’s interim director since February 2018.
In her role as director, Ms. Abotsi oversees SPAR’s office operations, staffing, and budget. She is also the liaison with the CUNY Research Foundation and CUNY Central Office with respect to the College’s sponsored research activities.
Ms. Abotsi is a long-serving member of the Baruch College professional staff, having worked in the sponsored research area since 2005. She received her MBA from the Zicklin School of Business, with dual specializations in operations management and computer information systems. She is also a Certified Research Administrator.
Zolicia Abotsi’s leadership will be essential as the College moves toward cohering our research enterprise and its officers to execute Strategic Goal #2 of the College’s 2018-2023 Strategic Plan, to “create a vision for, and initiatives and policies to support, outstanding scholarship, research, and discovery.”
I am thankful for the vision, stewardship, and service that Ms. Abotsi has provided to SPAR and to our Baruch research community and look forward to her continued leadership in this important area.
Please join me in congratulating Zolicia.
Sincerely,
James McCarthy
Interim Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
